Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Camp

Refunds

Q:   How do I get a refund?

A:   Refund requests must be in writing and include a reason and proof (letter from Principal for summer school, doctor’s excuse, ticket reservation).  Send request to the Office Manager.  Requests received after June 15th will be processed in September. Click here for our full refund policy.

Q:   What is the status of my refund request?

A:    According to our refund policy, requests received after June 15th will be processed in September, however, if all the paperwork has been submitted and the appropriate staff are in the office, the request will be reviewed early.  Notification is made by e-mail.  Contact Joan.Andrews@Scouting.org for more information.

Webelos Resident – Mini-Resident Camp

Q:   I cannot attend either volunteer meeting for Webelos Resident/Mini-Resident Camp.  Can I just get the information from the other parents in our pack, or is it essential to attend this training meeting?

A:   Please bring a copy of your Youth Protection training with you to camp.  Please be mindful of smellables in your site.  Let us know of any dietary restrictions prior to arrival or at check-in.  If you have any questions you can e-mail them to Bob Clark at Robert.Clark@Scouting.org

Cub/Parent Weekend

Q:   I did not receive a check-off list of what the boys did at each level so that I can sign off in my son’s rank book.  Is there one on the website?

A:   No, we do not give anything out for the cub/parent weekend since they just enjoy the activities and do not earn any achievements.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Q:    I need to submit my son’s day camp to my employer to be reimbursed through my family spending account.  What form do I need?

A:    A camp fee receipt can be e-mailed to you. Please e-mail Nancy.Amidon@Scouting.org with your request. Include your Scout's name and the name of the camp he attended and the date he attended.

Q:   How does my son get certified for belt loops?

A:   Belt loops and Sports Pins can be earned in both Archery and BB Gun Shooting.  Requirements are found on the Council Website under Cub Scout Camping.

Q:   I am volunteering for day camp.  Can I transfer my son's fee to another camper?

A:   No.  It is not transferable.

Q:   I am volunteering for day camp.  Do I need to submit registration forms?

A:   Yes.  We need your registration and health forms for every member of your family who will be in camp.  We use your paperwork to verify your Boy Scout registration and trainings and the camp files your paperwork in case of emergencies.  Also, you will not receive your free tee-shirts if your paperwork is not submitted in a timely manner .

Q:   I neglected to order an extra tee-shirt.   Can I pay for an additional shirt at registration?

A:   No.  Tee-shirts are ordered in advance.  We do not order extras.  If you discover your error early enough, we can add an extra shirt to your son's registration as long as the shirt order has not been submitted.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Certificate of Insurance

Q:   My unit is attending another Council’s boy scout camp.  Do I need a certificate of insurance?

A:   Another council’s camp is automatically covered by our liability insurance.  It is a BSA policy not specific to each council.  Therefore, if they have a tour permit, they are covered by liability.  That being said, a few councils do insist that the unit bring a certificate of insurance along to get into camp so CNJC has to process one.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Membership Registration

Q:    Our troop does not have a Unit Commissioner
A:     In the absence of a Unit Commissioner, the Council Representative certificate will be signed at the Council Office.  This line is NOT to be signed by the Unit Leader or anyone else in the unit.

Q:     I am having difficult entering some of the boys’ registration using Internet Rechartering.
A:     ScoutNET will NOT accept any punctuation in the name fields, nor will it accept names beginning with lower cases letters.

  • Apostrophes – leave out (O’Grady becomes OGrady)
  • Periods – leave out (Mr. or Dr. becomes Mr and Dr)
