RANGE FLAGS: There are two flagpoles from which large, red flags are hung whenever there is shooting on either the rifle or shotgun ranges. One pole is at the entrance of the range road with the other erected at the junction of the three roads nearest these ranges. When the flags are on the flag poles, everyone MUST enter the range using the road only. No one is authorized to access these ranges cross country. Vehicles are restricted to range personnel only. The Camp Ranger has both range flags and those using these ranges must obtain these flags from him and hoist both flags before placing firearms and ammunition on these ranges or allow people to access these ranges.
SAFETY LIMIT SIGNS AND YELLOW BARRIER ROPE: Signs stating "DANGER RIFLE RANGE, DO NOT GO BEYOND THIS SIGN" are posted at intervals along the left and right safety limits of the rifle and shotgun ranges. As a precaution, no one should ever breach this barrier or ignore these signs, whether or not these ranges are actively being used.
EYE AND EAR PROTECTION: Those actually shooting must ALWAYS wear eye and ear protection. Coaches and spectators who are under the roofed area of each range, must always wear hearing protection while in these areas until the command "CEASE FIRING" is given.
ENFORCEMENT: These safety measures exist to protect our Scouts and the adults who lead them. We require everyone to adhere to these simple, common sense regulations. In the interest of ensuring the safety of all those who use YCSR, anyone who violates these rules will be asked to leave the range area.
