Popcorn sales help meet many Scouting objectives!
More and more Scouting units use popcorn sales to raise funds for equipment, activities, and other needs.
Boys can earn much more than money!
Few activitities demonstrate to Scouts the value of planning, organization, and commitment more than a unit's combined efforts to sell popcorn. Scouts develop and practice new skills, learn about sales and marketing, and reach new levels of personal success.
And, Scouts who participate in the sale may accomplish requirements for Achievements, Activity Badges, and Merit Badges. Because many of the activities involved in popcorn sales are similar to requirements for Scouting accomplishments, many Councils approves these activities as formally counting toward awards.
For example, the Central New Jersey Council allows Scouts to apply their work during a popcorn sale to the fulfillment for a Salemanship Merit Badge.
Consider these activities as counting toward Boy Scout Merit Badges. Before proceeding with your work, make sure your Merit Badge Counselor has approved your idea.

Several of our Council's top popcorn sellers have put together a list of best practices that have worked for them. Read their suggestions and incorporate them into your sale to increase your total sales. Then watch their YouTube videos to hear it from them in their own words.
Attention Cub Scout Den Leaders! The Central New Jersey Council has developed a den meeting agenda and activities around the popcorn sale. Cubs have more fun and more success selling as a group. They also get a chance to earn achievements. Click here to download the den meeting plans.
